ADVANCE PUBLICITY NOTICE
The Southern Connecticut and the Hartford chapters of ASM International will jointly sponsor their October 17, 2002 technical dinner meeting, when they are pleased to present Mr. Paul E. C. Bryant, Director Products & Projects, Inframat Corp., South Willington, CT. Mr. Bryant is currently directing R&D at Inframat to commercially develop applications for extremely fine ("nano") particles or grains of ceramics and metaloceramics. These materials will make possible the "new age" applications of extremely small devices and sensors, in such widely dispersed fields as high performance magnets for aerospace radar systems, superior thermal barrier coatings for gas turbines, and neuro performance monitors to control slow release drug delivery systems. Mr. Bryant received his BSc. in Metallurgical Engineering, Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, followed by an M. Eng. in Metallurgical Eng. & Solid State Physics, McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario. Following a stint in the Royal Canadian Navy, Mr. Bryant engaged in a long and productive career starting with nuclear reactor materials and power generation equipment at Chalk River Nuclear Labs and continuing with Combustion Engineering's Nuclear Power Division. He worked with gas turbine blade and vanes with the Power plant Labs of Asea Brown Boveri, from which he formally retired as Dep. Director Power Plant Materials. In "retirement" Mr. Bryant has worked as director of Axiom Labs in Bloomfield before taking his present position at Inframat. Mr. Paul Bryant's vast experience and knowledge of the application of high performance metals and ceramics will make his talk an enjoyable and informative technical dinner presentation for members and guests of the two ASM Chapters.
