JOB DESCRIPTION

To analyze competitor cells and other routine and non-routine samples according to set procedures or supervisory direction.  To measure porosity for various types of materials using mercury porosimetry technique.  To report results in written form and to enter data into LIMS and existing computer programs.  To keep accurate records of sample results and controls in notebook and on control charts.  To maintain mercury porosimeter and pH meters in good working condition.  To perform calibration of micropipets for the Inorganic Battery Group.

Analyze competitor alkaline, zinc/air and lithium cells with highest accuracy according to set procedures.  Enter competitor cell data into LIMS.  Include all pertinent information and clearly reports the results for easy interpretations of the data.  Analyze various types of materials for porosity using mercury porosimetry technique.  Calibrate micropipets according to established procedure and schedules.  Enters calibration results into proper calibration form.  Maintain mercury porosimeter and pH meters in good working condition.  Conduct tests or experiments, under supervisor’s direction, for modification or revision of procedures to specific project needs.  Enter all results and control data into LIMS. Handle hazardous waste disposal for inorganic laboratory according to schedule.  Order chemicals and supplies as needed to maintain an uninterrupted workflow.  Actively support the quality issues at Duracell through participation in ISO and other quality activities.  Conform to and practice all of Duracell’s existing and any new safety procedures.  Good general chemistry knowledge, organizational skills, accuracy, ability to work well with others, and good oral and written communication skills are required.

EDUCATION:  Associate’s Degree in Chemistry or related field

EXPERIENCE:  3 –5 years laboratory experience or equivalent.
