The Hydrogen Economy, Fuel Cells and the Environment

An Intersociety Symposium

The Hartford ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), and Connecticut Sections of the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers), ASM (American Society of Materials) and the AIChE (American Society of Chemical Engineers) are jointly sponsoring an Intersociety technical event.

The Symposium will address leading edge engineering, technical, environmental, and economic issues associated with the use of hydrogen as a fuel for motive and stationary power systems, and fuel cells with high efficiency fuel energy conversion capabilities. Hydrogen is the only emission free fuel with only water as a byproduct. No NOx, SO2, H2S, CO/CO2, CH4/Hydrocarbons or Ash byproducts are produced. Water is recyclable. Hydrogen is planned as a replacement for CO2 emitting carbon based “greenhouse” fuels.  Hydrogen fuels could reduce US dependence on foreign oil and aid the environment. Experts in energy generation, related business matters, motive systems, fuel cells and hydrogen generation will discuss hydrogen and fuel cell state-of-the-art Issues. A Student Poster Session and Company Product Displays are planned.

DATES/TIMES: Thursday 30 September ( 16:00-22:00 ), Friday 1 October ( 16:00-22:00 ), Saturday 2 October ( 07:30-17:30 ); Complimentary refreshments will be served on all three days with a complimentary continental breakfast and lunch on Saturday.
