Letter
from The chairperson Dear Chapter Members: I want to personally thank all the members who attended the January technical meeting. It was the largest audience that I can ever remember for a standard monthly dinner meeting. We appreciate The Torrington Co. sponsoring the evening social hour. A special thanks to John Morral and to the UCONN students who displayed posters representing their work in the field of metallurgy. We look forward to a joint meeting with the Student Chapter in May. 1998 99 Scholarship applications are available. We will present a $1000 prize to the most qualified candidate at our May meeting. Contact Harley Grimes, (860) 522-3123, or me for more information. We are still looking for Chapter members to give a little bit of their time in assisting the Executive Board. Please call me if you are interested in participating in any form or fashion. Please note the deadlines for meeting reservations listed in your Macrogram. The Troutbrook wants to ensure enough food to feed the hungry crowd but the Chapter does not want to pay for any dinners above and beyond the "final " count. Your confirmed reservation is requested by 5PM the day prior to the meeting. The Materials Week celebration will be the week of April 18. We are in need of sponsors for various activities. Call me if you are interested in being recognized as a sponsor.
Sincerely, Hartford CT. Chapter Officers:
