Letter from The chairperson

Dear Members:

Welcome to the new year and a new millennium, with best wishes to all.We are parting with some tradition this month in scheduling the monthly meeting for later in the month. This was because of the limited availability of our speaker for the evening, who I’m sure we will all find captivating and interesting.

The meeting will be run as a joint meeting with the Southern CT chapter, and held at the location noted as a best half way point for both chapters.

Special Note:

To our sustaining members, as well as all members of corporations, Dr. DeHaemer will be scheduled for a presentation on the programs and benefits of the ASM to companies involved in the materials sciences. Please take this opportunity to contact executive and corporate decision makers within you organizations, and inform them of a wonderful opportunity to meet on a peer-to-peer level with Dr. DeHaemer. He will provide a presentation on why the ASM International is a valuable resource for companies, and how to better utilize the services of the organization. This special meeting will begin at 2:00 PM, at the location noted on the left.

As it is also student’s night, we hope that we can count on a turnout from our student members and non-member, and faculty.

Thanks to our speaker in November, Dr. Steve Mashl, for his discussion of the metallurgical properties of hot isostatic pressing (HIP).

I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting.

With best regards,

Joe Kubinski
