From I-91 South
South to Exit 1, Route 34. Merge right as soon as you get onto Route 34 and take Exit 1. At the end of the exit, you will see an intersection with a flashing yellow light on the right, and a sign for the Knights of Columbus Museum. Take the right that passes through the intersection. You will be driving on Orange Street. Take the first right onto George Street. Drive to the first traffic light on George Street and make a right onto State Street. Bear all the way to your left and the museum garage entrance will be 200 feet up on the left.

From I-95
Take Exit 47 for Downtown New Haven and Route 34. As soon as you get on Route 34 and see above.

Tour:
The Museum will be featuring a Cross and an Easter Egg Exhibit. Both are owned by Southern Connecticut Chapter Past Chairman Bob Klancko and his wife Yvie. The Cross Collection, over 160 items, encompasses material from the year 1000 to date. The Egg Collection, over 500 items, includes eggs created by master artisans to folk eggs. Included are two eggs which are hallmarked Faberge. The exhibits are explained on the Knights of Columbus Museum website. (www.kofc.org/un/about/museum)

This presentation will focus on those materials the masters and similar artists use and the challenges the master restorer faces.  

Speaker’s Bio:
Oscar Perez, who is former Manager of Quality Control at The Kerite Company in Seymour, is a member of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic & Artistic Works, Washington, D.C. He has more than 40 years of experience in art. A native of Havana Cuba, he received his art education in the San Alejandro Academy in Havana and later in Florence and Rome, Italy . With his wife Debra Boyers - a distinguished portrait painter, equine artist, and conservator - he owns Vigues Art Studio where they have been restoring artwork for collectors, dealers and the public.

They have restored hundreds of pieces  including well known artists such as N.C. Wyeth, Eric Sloane, Francesco Guardi, just to mention a few.

Coffee Talk:
Speaker: Larry Sowinski (Museum Director)

This talk will focus on the mission of the Knights of Columbus Museum, which opened in 2001, give an overview of its special exhibits of religious art and history and its large permanent exhibit showcasing the Order's history.

Dinner:
The Royal Palace at 18 Orange Street , New Haven , (203) 776-6663, is known for Szechuan , Cantonese, Hunana and Taiwanese delicacies, plus such specialties as water chicken, honey walnut shrimp and snowpea leaves, and for being able to accommodate diners' dietary limitations, such as wheat, garlic or nut allergies.

Directions to Royal Palace Chinese Restaurant Parking: From I-91 South, I-95 North or South: Take Route 34 to downtown New Haven; take Exit #1; make right onto Orange St.; take next right onto George St. (one-way); parking about 50 feet on left side of street. From Route 34 West: Stay in right lane as you pass Yale-New Haven Hospital; Do not use expressway ramp; proceed to Church St. (about three blocks); take a left on Church St.; go over expressway, next street  will be George St.(one way); turn right, cross Orange St. (one block); parking about 50 feet on left side of street.
