| The
Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. (CCAT)
works in partnership with industry, government, and
academia to strengthen technology- led economic
competitiveness. It facilitates collaborative
efforts to enhance the capabilities of current and
emerging industries, and fosters innovation,
entrepreneurship and new business creation. It
also participates in the development and enrichment
of multi-cultural, collaborative, project-based
education that engages students, enhances technical
competence, and stimulates innovation and
enterprise. |
 |
As
a key focus, CCAT is establishing the National
Center for Aerospace Leadership (NCAL) at Rentschler
Field. The NCAL will be a facility that includes the
activities of regional and national universities and
will serve as the headquarters for a multi state
initiative to support aerospace manufacturing
companies to adopt and transition new technologies.
|
|
The
initial facilities of the NCAL are currently in operation in
East Hartford, Connecticut. Ongoing activities that
will be described include the creation of a Laser
Applications Laboratory and a Manufacturing Modeling and
Simulation program. Both of these initiatives
include the participation of key Universities and Colleges
in the Hartford region.
