ADVANCE PUBLICITY NOTICE
The Southern Connecticut Chapter of ASM International will hold
its next technical dinner meeting Thursday, October 18, 2001. At
this meeting the Chapter is pleased to present as the featured
speaker one of its members, Mr. James Michel, Technical Manager -
Corrosion Products, The Platt Brothers & Company, Waterbury,
CT. Mr. Michel has been with Platt Brothers, a prominent zinc and
zinc alloy manufacturer, for four years in his present position.
Jim works with several zinc products directly as product manager
and marketing engineer, in addition to his role as technical
advisor in the application and development of zinc alloys for new
products. Prior to working at Platt Brothers, Jim was a private
consultant for nine years working in the areas of nonferrous
metals, coatings, corrosion and failure analysis. He has worked
for AMAX Zinc Co., St. Joe Zinc Co. and US. Steel Research prior
to his private practice. Besides being a member of NACE and of
ASTM, Jim is a long time member of ASM, currently serving as
Secretary of the So. CT Chapter. Jim has two degrees in
Metallurgical Engineering, his B.S. from the University of
Missouri - Rolla and an M.S. from Ohio State. Jim Michel's vast
experience and knowledge of the zinc industry as well as his
familiarity with his audience will make his talk an enjoyable,
interesting and informative technical dinner presentation for
members and guests of the Chapter.
