SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT and HARTFORD CHAPTERS of
ASM INTERNATIONAL

  ADVANCE  PUBLICITY  NOTICE

             The Southern Connecticut and the Hartford Chapters of ASM International will jointly sponsor their May 2003 technical dinner meeting, featuring a presentation by John Pawloski, Director, Connecticut Museum of Mining and Mineral Science, Kent, CT.  A guided tour of the museum starting at 4pm will precede the meeting.   The mining museum, located adjacent to the Sloane-Stanley Museum one mile north of Kent Center on Rte 7, has just begun its third year.  The exhibits focus on Connecticut's rich mining and mineral heritage, the development of mining technology and the uses of minerals in our lives.  John Pawloski, geologist by training, teacher by profession, author and photographer on archaeology, geology and mineralogy, retired three years ago from teaching to operate the museum.  He presently is president of the CT Antique Machinery Association, the non-profit group responsible for the museum site and its numerous exhibits.  Mr. Pawloski's vast experience and knowledge of the rich and fascinating history of mining and minerals in Connecticut, will make this combined tour and presentation an enjoyable and informative event for members and guests of the two ASM Chapters.
